Hmmm, while it is impresive he was able to hold his own till the end, his victory really was caused by the distraction Arya and Saphira provided when they broke through the Isidar Mithrim (the star saphrire set in the celing/floor of the dragonhold). He used this to catch Durza off gaurd and stab him through the heart.
