Marlienable
Marlienable asked:

In the first chapter, Smith travels to French Guinea to collect rocks to bring to deceased writer Jean Genet's grave. There's a temporal incongruency here. According to Smith, they did this in 1980, while according to his wiki page, Jean Genet didn't die until 1986. Can someone please explain what's going on here?

Marlienable Ah I understand now. Thanks ☺️
Geoff Girardin Hi! She addresses this at the end of the book. She collected rocks to bring to Genet himself, but never crossed paths with him while he was still alive.
