Personally, I did not like the addition. Better to leave it to readers' imagination. Also, I was waiting to find out more of what happens to some side characters. I guess that's coming in the sequel. Good book overall

The author confirmed that it was original material, and it does seems to track the narrative. It also references some famous prophetic writing.
