Goodreads asked Richard P. Alvarez:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Richard P. Alvarez Write something else.

Sounds trite - but if you're not inspired to work on your present project, and you can't bare to review and rewrite it, then simply write something else. A letter to a friend. An erotic dream. A political rant. Whatever flows freely from the fingers.

Then look at it and say out loud, "See.... I'm not 'blocked'."

Something in what you've just written, will have a kernel of truth that needs to be in the project you're working on.
