Michael So "Rhenydd" is "old speech" composed of two parts "Rhen" and "ydd" -- The latter means "new" and the former is in reference to Dahl Rhen - which is one of the 10 tribes of the Rhune (humans) in ancient times. If you read the Legends of the First Empire series you'll learn a lot more about this. So just as "New York" -- is a "new" version of the "york" of days gone by, Rhenydd is essential "New Rhen" - and it's the part of the world where people of Dahl Rhen relocated after the First Great War.
