I have the version translated by Robert Fagles. On page 339 there is the following quote: "What pain he's (Eumaeus) borne for him (Telemachus) and him alone! - home now, in the tenth year from far abroad (...)" Does this mean that Telemachus has been gone for ten years?

yes, that book is really great and I have read it when I was a freshman and I read it recently yes that does mean he has been gone for ten years thanks for asking!
