It was mentioned a few times couched in fuzzy language likening it to IP transmission loss, but I guess the author didn't know about parity and CRC checks. And then it just gets dropped. Tal M. Klein Transmission loss was deemed immaterial because there was a checksum-like process at the end - the analog here is more 3D printing of cloud-hosted files than TCP/IP. If the print job wasn't perfect, it would be cleared and the person would be retransmitted.
