Gabriella asked:

Is there any kind of romantic relationships in this book? If so is there anything explicit (more than kissing?)

Caleb Jore There are some romance storylines in the book, most notably that of Aragorn and Arwen. But unlike the films, almost all of it takes place off the main scene of the story and there isn't any kissing in the book (one thing that I definitely think the films messed up on).

There are a few other romantic storylines, but I won't spoil anything here. So to answer your first question yes, your second question no.
Colin No sex. Just an "off screen" romance between Aragorn and Arwen which is covered mostly in one of the appendices at the end. Tolkien was not only a devout and conservative Catholic, but was writing this in the late 1930s to early 1950s. Not much "sexy time" in literature back then, whatever religion a given author may have practiced.
