Bev For me, Tom Hanks made this book. At first I was wondering if I could get past the fact that it was this famous beloved actor reading the story, but it didn't take long for his narration to draw me in. I forgot about Tom altogether as he told the tale in the voice of Danny. Tom Hanks seems to be excellent at everything he does!
Soumia Meiyappan I just finished listening to this book and give it 5 stars. Tbh, it was Tom Hank's' excellent narration that pushed it from a 4.5 to a perfect 5. Give it a try! :-)
Virginia I'll be the (somewhat) dissenting voice on Hanks' reading. By halfway through, I was getting annoyed with some of his affectations, particularly lifting his voice at the end of many sentences in a row, which I felt took away from my own understanding of the character. But then, I am very particular about audiobook narration, and frequently abandon wonderful books on audio... and get myself a paper copy.
Terrie This is a wonderful article (almost a novella) about Ann and Tom Hank's assistant. It recounts the writing of The Dutch House times. So, of course, I wanted to read the book as this article if fantastic!!!! I read the book and loved it and have seen others say that Tom did a fantastic job!! Wendy West Tom Hanks MADE the story. !! I'm so glad I chose the audiobook. I went between being drawn to the voice of Danny, to feeling like I was sitting just chatting with Tom Hanks.. I didn't want the story to end.
Laurie His narration made the book wonderful. He read it perfectly and I was thrilled to listen to him.
