Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
Susan Ellison Busch
My son has 22Q deletion which is almost as common as Down Syndrome, but no one has heard of it, including medical professionals, teachers, therapists and other people who care for these individuals. It wasn't until my son was in his early teens that we discovered that the cause of all his problems was a tiny missing piece of chromosome. I think at that moment, I thought that I would write a book to increase awareness of the syndrome, but nothing came of that idea until my son set himself on fire during a time of psychosis. I wrote e-mail updates to my friends about his progress or lack thereof at times, and a few friends encouraged me to write a book. As I started writing, I realized that the burn was only a chapter in the perilous journey of his life so far.
