Goodreads asked Jim Brady:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Jim Brady Make a writing schedule and stick to it, so many people that want to be writers don't even finish a rough draft, and I feel that a lot of the time it's because they didn't write regularly and it's hard to do that without a daily schedule.

Another thing to do is create a deadline for each milestone (writing the rough draft, writing the second draft etc.) I find it much easier to write this way but this and the schedule may not work for you just because they do work for me. It's important to find out what works for you and stick to it.
