Rhinnan My thought is that it was purchased by Victor. It seemed as tho he’d begun to get back into some shady real estate dealings again, and Barbra had discovered he’d gotten a new place in town that he’d moved his office things to.
Charlotte Hamrick No. The book clearly says Twyla and Gary lived in Algiers while Sharon lived in the upper Ninth Ward. Two totally different neighborhoods on opposite sides of the river.
This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[Zach, I also couldn't entirely figure that out! On one hand, the allocation of plot to Sharon's story seemed unnecessarily long/tangential for her only connection to be via her brief interaction with Victor in the morgue. On the other hand, it seems that (prior to meeting Victor, at least) Twyla was at least minimally socially engaged with her neighbours, and Sharon only mentions seeing one man on the property (Gary, I would presume). Beyond this, I think that Twyla would have noticed that someone weeded her lawn. Also the degree of vacancy/disrepair to the house doesn't feel like it aligns with a few months of Twyla falling into depression. Those are just my thoughts, I could definitely be convinced otherwise! (hide spoiler)]
Meghan I had thought that for a minute but then realized Gary and Twyla seemed to live in a nicer area.
