Jim asked:

At several points, particularly after Smith and Hickock are arrested and in jail, Capote makes reference to an unnamed "journalist". For instance, one of them sends the scrap of poetry given to them by Lowell Andrews prior to his execution to a "journalist". Is Capote referring to himself in the third person in these instances? I'm not aware of any first person references to the writer.
