So why was it even necessary to use the psychic children? The Institute had highly trained strike-teams to kill the children's families and abduct them. Why not eliminate the morally and ethically repugnant method of using the children at all? Just use the assassination teams to kill the threats? Smith said there was no point in continuing the project without the kids, but the kids were actually unnecessary!
