I felt like Infernal Devices had much more deeper themes and meanings in the book than Mortal Instruments.Maybe the time period has something to do with that?

I actually adored this series more then The Mortal Instruments, although I still love TMI just not as much as The Infernal Devices.

Actually I just started reading the book a few days ago and I find it well written. I'm on chapter 4 and I already love it. I never even heard of the.series till I got to the book of the mortal instruments.
