Susan Bertke asked:

I have not read "Three Men in a Boat," however, I HAVE read "To say nothing of the dog, or, How we found the bishop's bird stump at last" by Connie Willis. This is a SciFi about time travelers who attempt to duplicate Jerome's trip. Chaos ensues.

Lekha Murali The original book is a non-fiction book about three young Englishmen who are good friends, who go on a boat trip in 19th century England.

The book is not just about the trip. Its strung together with anecdotes from their lives, commentary on local customs, local history along with vivid imagination of the writer Jerome.K.Jerome.

The language is rich and poetic interwoven with the writer's own philosophy. The original book is not a novel, it is a travelogue.

The follow-up to this book is "Three Men on the Bummel", where the same three men, who by this time are married and almost middle-aged(for the times they lived in), go around Europe on a bicycle tour. although that book does not have the same youthful hilarity, it still is funny with astute observations.

Hope you read atleast one of these
