Is this a stand alone book or do I need to read The Tattooist of Auschwitz first?

I recommend reading the Tattooist of Auschwitz first to provide context for many of the experiences and people mentioned. It isn't necessary though.
Joy
I would recommend reading the Tattooist 1st. it helps introduce you to Cilka and provides context. I very much enjoyed the Tattooist as well and would highly recommend it.
Agustina
I read this book without having read the Tattooist and really enjoyed it. All you need to know is that she was best friends with Gita, the tattooist love interest.
Jo
I think you could read this book without reading the first. Some of the characters from the Tattooist are mentioned in this book. If you could read it first it would be great but not necessary.
Chris
I think you could read it first, but reading Tattooist will add more to the story, so I would do that if you can!
