This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I haven't seen the movie in a long time, but I just finished the book and did a quick google search about the movie's plot. Turns out that the book is a VERY faithful adaptation. There are basically no changes at all. In the end, Ofelia dies and goes to the underworld, where she reunites with her parents. Then there is the scene with the flower blooming in the forest, followed by Ofelia's story being told by a man who fell asleep near the flower. (hide spoiler)]
This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I would agree that the ending is basically the same as the movie in that what happens in the movie also happens in the book. However, some of the ambiguity from the movie is diminished in the book by the addition of the epilogue. For me this was disappointing because I liked that the movie was really open to interpretation. (hide spoiler)]
This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[Noup, is the same.... the whole story is the same, they just add more information about "secondary stories". Totally worth reading!! (hide spoiler)]
