Goodreads asked Jack Tyler:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jack Tyler [Updated 10/31/15] My two books to date are collections of steampunk stories called Beyond the Rails. I was led to steampunk by a friend who wanted to do a joint project, then was pulled away after we got started. Not wanting to hijack his idea, I determined to establish one of my own. I sat back and let it ferment for a few weeks, and what eventually rose to the top was an amalgamation of the wonder of discovery of Jules Verne's later novels and Joss Whedon's Firefly. Those who have read and reviewed the books claim to have had a great time with them. That's wonderful to hear, because I know that I sure have! I'm taking a break before beginning the third collection, and working on something a lot closer to home. Time will tell how that works out, but I'm expecting wonderful things from cast and setting.
