Stephen LeMaster asked:
I never thought I'd say this, but I need a spoiler. I have a 7-month old Lab puppy who literally ate part of this book. In most cases, I would just order another copy, but (1) I'm very close to the end of the book, and (2) I wasn't enjoying it as much as other Lucas Davenport novels I've read. I've read to the point where Lucas was about to deliver the money to Deese. Can you fill in the blanks?

This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[Deese kills Cole in the tunnel, Cox ends up killing both Ralph and Mrs Harrelson, but makes it look like Ralph did it. Deese makes it back to the trailer to find those two dead and Cox tries to shoot it out with Deese. Deese actually hides under the trailer and gets bit by a snake and that's what eventually kills him. Cox gets away with everything. I agree with Joyce, not one of his better books. The very end is a call to Davenport from the senator saying he needs help. Segway to the next book. (hide spoiler)]
This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[I just finished the book,. Not one of my favorites by this author. For me, the story had no mystery. We know Deese was the killer from the start. Lucas and crew were chasing him from beginning to end but he kept getting away. The spoiler is that he dies in the end. (hide spoiler)]
