5th grade English?! GRR Martin's turn of phrase and diction is nowhere near accessible for an 11 year old child. You require an advanced level of English to really understand everything. And plenty of patience.

I do not which school system's English levels you are going off of, but possibly the equivalent to (American) High School English?
