Amy My answer includes 3 books by Barbara Kingsolver: The Poisonwood Bible, Flight Behavior (my favorite of these 3) and her more recent Unsheltered. The first reveals stories of living in Africa, the second has themes from natural phenomena and rural life in modern times and the third has a historic and current parallel stories. None are VERY similar, Unsheltered possibly the most similar. Two others that come to mind for the manners in which they portray female solitude. Where the Crawdads Sing is amazing and includes botany of the North American east coast swamp life. The other is Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. This has NO natural aspects to it, however it reveals the mind of the female main character. I hope that others have better answers to your question, as I would love to read other similar books to The Signature of All Things which remains one of my all time favorite books. Of the above, my top 2 are Where the Crawdads Sing then Unsheltered.
