This answer contains spoilers… (view spoiler)[It's not uncommon in those schools for boys that either teachers or the classmates themselves start feeling a bit too hormonal without a proper way of letting the steam out. I mean, probably the teachers with such inclinations would prefer taking a job in a school full of boys and then who knows, some don't mind it, others feel too scared to reject. It's not necessary that he was actually abused in the full meaning but maybe many boys were offering and some went too far and scared him... (hide spoiler)]
