Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

M.. Many of the issues that I've written about in this book come from discussions with my scientifically literate friends and colleagues here in Cambridge and greater Boston. Not a very representative sampling of humans generally :) What's new for me here is an experiment in seeing whether I can convey that same sense of wonder to general readers who have no background in biology or philosophy.
