Goodreads asked Dusty Dionne:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Dusty Dionne I have been a long time follower of stories. Stories tell history, they save blocks of the past forever, and they help teach lessons that the ancients and moderns, have deemed so important that they needed to be immortalized. I was raised in a Native American Spiritualist environment from a very young age. I heard the Animals Stories and I saved them inside my heart, where they were able to be grown and nurtured with love. I have forever felt that the one true God/dess is right beneath our feet, and that all the creatures upon it are messengers of that Great Divine. After growing, and learning, searching and finding all of the places where spirit might reside, I realized that I had stories to share. Stories that might help the next kid who is sad, lonely, or unsure of themselves, hear a message from spirit to help them through a hard time. Or to feel the connectedness that we know in our heart exists with nature, then I had to take the chance, and put my stories to paper. (It also helps that someone as AMAZING as Jared Mackenzie saw my vision, and was willing to help make it manifest with his art.)
