Marie Laveau died in 1881, so I'm wondering of this book was based on her daughter that was named after her. If so, why doesn't it say Marie Laveau II?

Perry Lake Some people theorize that the elder Marie Laveau and the younger were in fact the same person. Having discovered the secret to an exceptionally long life, Marie eventually faked her death and then suddenly reappeared but claiming to be her own daughter. Not saying that happened in real life, but it's a great basis for fiction such as these Lost Spells books.
