How do most of you categorize this book? I keep thinking of it as post-apocalyptic, that doesn't seem to be the consensus.

I've categorised this as a horror; I think 'Horror' in general is quite broad and open to interpretation, we all find different things scary right? But this book certainly fitted it for me :)

I find it to be more of a psychological thriller more than anything really, but there is still the post-apocalyptic and horror element. It's a nice synergy :)

I would probably categorize it as post-apocalyptic as well. The only other genre would be horror. On checking the reviews for this book on Amazon, I was surprised at how many negative reviews it received. I thought it was very original, suspenseful and, as I have said, listening to it as an audio-book raised the suspense level even higher than it would have been had I read it....the narrator, a woman named Campbell, was the best I've ever heard!

I didn't think it was scary or horror so I agree. When I describe the book, I also say post-apocalytic.

Well, I read a lot of horror and while it came across via Kobo as "horror", I don't consider it horror in the usual sense. There are some horror-type elements such as playing on instinctual fears in the human psyche, but nothing in it is very gruesome, scary or gorey like much of the typical horror novel.
I would describe it more as post-apocalyptic suspense maybe with some horror light.

I would call it post-apocalyptic, or the en vogue term "dystopia". I guess that's a subgenre of science fiction. But I would call it horror too. I'm reading it now, about halfway through and came to it as a recommended 'horror" read for halloween season.

I agree, it was very original and suspenseful. I really enjoyed reading this book. A movie treatment would also be a good project.
