I did not see the movie but the second one,Where she went kind of describes what happened but its mainly about Adam and his point of view, but yes I do agree that it kind of went nowhere.

Actually, I first watched the movie, before I read the book. When I had read half of the book, I got a little bored because it just kept repeating itself like you are saying.
I would love it when there were more parts with Adam and their history, but in the book the biggest part is about Mia in the hospital.
