Goodreads asked Alex Ashe:

How do you get inspired to write?

Alex Ashe I'm inspired to write by my curiosity. Being a writer helps me to be more open to learning new things and admitting that "I just don't know" so I have a built in excuse to learn. Through the years, I've found that if if something peaks my interest, I need to explore it, research related subjects, and let a story unfold. This is most exciting part, for me, as I feel like I'm floating on top of the ocean, letting the waves guide me and pull in in different directions. I can feel the sea beneath me, but not know what's there. I look for things and jot down odd conversations, weird things I saw, or even a headline that makes me pause. Then, I try and combine those things into a cohesive storyline. I have to do a lot of rewriting to make it play out in a way that satisfies my thoughts, but it is rewarding.
