I didn't quite catch who was Fat Tony from Brooklyn/NJ. Is he of Italian descent and where can I find my own Fat Tony? And he doesn't necessarily have to be fat, but for some reason they all are. Why?

Maarten Smit Fat Tony is introduced on page 122 of the Black Swan. His motto is: “finding who the sucker is”. I think the point Taleb is trying to make is that someone relatively uneducated can outsmart many intellectuals in the real world by being street smart instead of theoretically smart.
