I grew up on a farm in Illinois near the Amish and admired how well-kept their yards always were, and I loved to see them go places in their buggies. From then on, the Amish have intrigued me. Now, I live 76 miles from Kalona, Iowa, where we visit several times a year, and the setting for my book, The Amish Baker.
