I get inspired by observing life, people, surroundings and situations. As a writer, you have to keep your ears and eyes open for bits of conversation, news, current events, history and trivia. Sometimes I need a little time to go into myself -- whether I am on a crowded bus or in the shower -- to let the ideas and characters come and start whispering in my ear. Sometimes an idea will come like a dream that you try to recollect, and then you start putting the pieces in place or creating new pieces. A plot, line, or voice will come through, and I have to scramble to get it down on paper.
