Yes, the book was set in Asia (I think Japan?) about 3 years after Tally and the Diego war. I almost set it aside because I was expecting the others in the beginning. I'm glad I kept reading because it did tie in eventually.

I think that Mr. Westerfeld thought, "I could take this farther." Origanally Hiro was the, um, hero of the book. I think he thought that a point of view from an "ugly" would be a selling point, since (in my opinion) Uglies was the best book in the franchise.

Perhaps, but I really like how the different time periods are connected- especially because it's been a while since I read the first three books, so finding the little links jogs my memory in a fun way.
