Sometimes an idea simply 'hits' me and I feel the urge to start writing. That's usually how I get started on a book. From then on it's a matter of sitting down and doing the work. I usually find that when I reread what I wrote the day before I know how to continue from there. It's like the words flow out of me (on a good day ;)
