Alanna Campbell This book is not like Outlander at all, I finished Doon recently and am reading Outlander at the moment. The only similarity is that they are both set in the same area of Scotland and aspect of "time travel." (Also it just so happens the male love interests have the same name?) But the stories are very different! Doon focuses more on the magic of and folktales affiliated with "Brig o' Doon" (bridge of Doon) and the musical "Brigadoon." The land visited in this novel is not real, and although it has many Scottish aspects, it really is it's own thing. Outlander focuses more on Scottish history, and really Scotland as it is and was. Although Outlander is a little bit better written, Doon is equally fun to read (if not a bit cheesy), both books I feel are fabulous.
