I thought it did, but it took awhile to get to the happy ending. Also, I guess the idea of a happy ending depends on which characters you like the best.

There is a love triangle, so it depends on who you wish for the characters to end up together, I reccomend this though! It's lovely!

Great question. I just finished Goodwin's first book, "The American Heiress" and felt the ending left too many unanswered questions. I would hate to invest so much time in another book where the end disappoints or saddens me.

It's hard to say because I don't know who you're going to "root" for while reading this, Maria. I will say that there is no particularly sad ending, nothing horribly shocking happens. I'd say it definitely has a happier ending than "Gone Girl" for example.
