Is this truly middle grade fiction, or is it more of a YA title? I'm considering ordering it for our children's collection, but I'm a little wary of a protagonist who is 16. Any opinions?

My 9.5 year old just finished it. She reads at a 9th grade level and she absolutely loved it. Very interested in this time period.
