Goodreads asked Antoni Joe Podolski:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Antoni Joe Podolski 23 days was written by Antoni Joe Podolski in 1984.
It was dictated onto tape and typed up by a legal secretary, creating 600 pages of double-space text.

Since Joe's death in 1999 we, the family, have had the manuscript in our posession. Eventually it was scanned into a computer before running it through OCR software to produce the editable text.

After intense spell checking and editing we were able to publish the book.

So, in short, the book is a true life memoir of 1939 and beyond.
