Goodreads asked Philip A. Oldfield:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Philip A. Oldfield FLASH FICTION 25 is my latest ‘book.’ The first volume is a collection of very short stories. I wrote these as a break from writing a novel and a novella and also to play with different scenarios that sprung into my head.

So, for example, some of the stories emerged purely by looking at an image and imagining the story behind or beyond what I could see. Others were based initially on an object I saw when out and about and suddenly an idea would fill the void and I would sit down and scribble out an outline there and then. Whilst more were born out of fleeting thoughts on the nature of human relationships and the circumstances upon which people meet or part company – perhaps, forever.
