What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Angela Oliver Read a lot, then write a lot. Your first book will probably be crap. Don't throw it out (at least not yet), just put it somewhere out of sight and mind so that when you are later feeling frustrated at your more recent writings you can pull it out, read over it and go "you know what, I've really improved."

And write your story for yourself - not for a specific target market, but yourself. Because if you like it, chances are someone else will too.
