The adult version is amazing. One of my favorite books, and I honestly do not care for racing or dogs. But this book, while definitely authoritative on both subjects, manages to pull off a compelling story. It's not a fun-loving puppy ride, though. He starts off young and full of energy, as do the human counterparts, and there is humor in the writing, but it's also a story of aging, loss, and sadness.

Dana Marquis, the entire book is not a 'fun loving puppy farytale story' it is a terribly sad, real life experience that has true insites in life. It is an amazing book however, If you are looking for a 'fun loving story' I suggest you read something a little more fary-tale.
