Goodreads asked Ireland Gill:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Ireland Gill Negative Zero was an off and on project for over 10 years. It may have taken much less time, had I focused more on it after I decided to make it a book. I believe my problem was my confidence level. I encourage anyone who wishes to write a book to JUST DO IT. Write it. Do your research on things you don't know and apply that knowledge to your work. Keep writing. Talk to others about your idea and see if their reaction helps spark more creativity and ambition inside of you. Find your muse and never let it go. Just keep writing.
