Ami asked Amanda Kyle Williams:

It's not hard to picture the Keye Street books as a really great television series--I think the "cow interlude" would be a particularly hilarious episode! Is there anything in the works?

Amanda Kyle Williams Well thank you for saying that. I picture it as I write. I’m extremely visual. I grew up with movies and television. I didn’t read until I was in my 20s because of an undiagnosed learning disability… or learning difference. I’m dyslexic. It’s a blessing in some ways. It keeps the movie playing in my head. And yes I think Keye is perfect for television, of course. I may be bias. That said, I’m happy to report a ton of studio interest in the series, and I have optioned the TV rights. The trick is getting a network to pick it up, and to be convinced that a Chinese-American detective has broad enough appeal. But the networks are beginning (slowly) to have more diverse programming. So is cable where the original programming is brilliant on Showtime, Starz, HBO, FX, AMC, etc. So we are hopeful. We believe it will happen when the time is right and the right star signs on to play Keye. We had one. She was perfect, but she was offered something that was in production and she took it. Actors need to work. Her new show is a hit and I’m very happy for her. So, the search is on for a Chines star with a big enough name to carry a series and who also loves Keye. Fingers crossed. The first season would be based on the first book, so Sadie the cow is sure to have a part. lol
