Goodreads asked Marsha Hansen:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Marsha Hansen In my day job as a writer for the wonderful university where I work, deadlines are my best friend. If I have a short deadline, I can whip out something that is spectacular with no sense of writer's block. Given more time, I can procrastinate with the best of them...which I think is something we writers confuse with writers' block. So, I suppose the answer is to impose a sense of urgency on whatever I am trying to write. Also, my writing colleague is just brilliant and whenever we talk, we each go away feeling that new and good ideas have started dancing in our heads.
