Goodreads asked Kittie Wong:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Kittie Wong If I have writer's block, it's usually because I have a problem within the story that I don't have an immediate solution for. My head is usually so full of stuff that the writing process gets a little gummed up. I try to clear my head by doing a number of things, any of which may or may not work. I will listen to music. Usually, I've put together a 'soundtrack' for what I'm writing to get me into that head space. It doesn't always stay the same throughout the writing process. The playlist is quite fluid. I may take something out and replace with another piece of music. But there will always be a small core of tracks that are the musical foundation for the story. If I'm not in the mood to listen to music, I get on with life's little things — wash the dishes, grocery shopping, cut the lawn or shovel the snow (depending on the season). Sometimes I'll just go for a walk or a hike to clear the mind.
