Goodreads asked Kittie Wong:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Kittie Wong The idea for this book evolved from a piece of music I was listening to at the time. The song was "St. James Infirmary" performed by Canadian jazz pianist and vocalist Michael Kaeshammer. I had never heard of the song before but I fell in love with his interpretation of it. I already had my two of my main characters named and was sorting through their relationship with each other. But I couldn't figure out how to get them down onto paper. I didn't have a launching point to work with. Eventually, after listening to the song for the umpteenth time, a scene popped into my head featuring the characters. The scene was so vivid it wouldn't leave alone until I wrote it down. It's not the first scene you read but it is in the book. I'm quite proud of that scene. It's very special to me.
