Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Melissa L. Gill I read this fantastic adult, non-fiction book called, "Sea Venture: Shipwreck, Survival, and the Salvation of Jamestown" by Kieran Doherty. I thought it was an amazing story, that would appeal to young people as well, but it needed a point of view character that kids could relate to. Since there were no kids on board the Sea Venture, I chose a cat, Salt, who could tell the story as only a cat can.
