I saw him at Harrogate (Crime Festival) about 4 years ago. He came across, rather surprisingly for the writer of such dark novels, as a free spirit who does something for a while and then moves on. He said as much although his football career was curtailed by injury. It does make you wonder when he'll move on from Harry, or indeed writing. He's a very gregarious person. But he is a talent.

I have heard people argue about writing a first draft longhand versus typing straight onto the computer. My questions are: whether your typing becomes a second draft as you go along? Or whether you stick with what you wrote and type a second draft: and, do you find you re draft a lot? I haven't read your book yet but I am about to- I saw your comment while looking up Margaret Forster.
