Goodreads asked Bradley Harper:

How do you get inspired to write?

Bradley Harper I love history. I like to find interesting people and events that few others know about. My current work in progress has among other people the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police during Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. He only had one arm, having lost his left one to a tigress while stationed in India as an Army officer. He still hunted wild boar on horseback however, holding the reins in his teeth when he needed to use his lance.
My cast of characters description follows:Police Commissioner Sir Edward Bradford
Police Commissioner of the London Metropolitan Police, Sir Edward has had a spectacular career as a military officer, spymaster for the British Viceroy in India, Aide de Camp to Her Majesty Queen Victoria, and now as Police Commissioner. He was the first Commissioner in the history of the force to visit every station house in London, and under his leadership London is experiencing its lowest crime rate in a century. This is all the more impressive given the loss of his left arm to a tigress as a young army officer.
