Tere Fredericks Actually, according to a Jewish website I found, the events of the Exodus were basically true, only the ship's name was changed. Also, the Arabs (as depicted in the book, not all but a goodly number, as still today) certainly Arabs fought as they still do, for the same reasons. In fact, I remember Nasser's name, a lot of the names in this book. Part historical novel, part history lesson, once read, never forgotten.
Richard It is a novel but you were an eye witness in 1948?
Smokey Dymny Don't forget that the first leaders of the new Israeli state were the bombers who attacked the King David Hotel. That the Palestinians, were displaced by the British who had made their country a 'protectorate' because of their own warped politics. The first plan had been to make a new state for the zionists in S. America. The Romans destroyed the temple in 68 a.d. The new Romans (Europe) did not want the Jewish people so they gave them a place which was not theirs to give.
